Kay Marie Massey Cihal

Kay Marie Massey Cihal was called home to Heaven on November 2nd, 2024. 

 She was born in Alto, Texas on June 23, 1933 to John B. and Mildred Luna Fults. 

 She was the oldest of five children and spent much of her life in Bay City, Texas.

 She married Hershel Deuane Massey in 1949. From this blessed union came five children: Stephen, Debra, Michael, and the twins, Ronald and Donald. 

 Kay was a devoted mother and happily spent her days supporting her children’s interests and cooking soul-warming meals to feed her family. 

 In 1970, Hershel Deuane and Kay welcomed their first grandbaby. Feeling much too youthful to be “Grandma”, she decided the title of “Grandmommy” suited her best. She would be known as “Grandmommy” to three generations of grandchildren.

A devoted follower of Christ, she was a tireless caretaker. Kay opened her home, her heart, and her time for anyone who needed it. Her generosity knew no bounds. 

She is survived by her children, Debra Stade of East Bernard, Michael (Kathy) Massey of College Station, and Donald Massey of Katy; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Jean) Fults of Sealy; sister, Connie S. Madeira of Pearland, and several nieces and nephews.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Mildred Luna Fults; husband, Hershel Deuane Massey; husband, Edwin “Gin” Cihal; sons, Stephen and Ronald Massey; brother, Nolan Fults; sister, Elna Deane Fults Sedberry; and daughter-in-law, Victoria Massey.

 Kay will be remembered always as a kind and warm presence and she will be profoundly missed. 

 A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 07, 2024, from 5PM to 8PM at Stone Creek Funeral Home in East Bernard. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10AM at First United Methodist Church 421 Pietzsch St. East Bernard, TX. 77435.
