It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Donna McMahan Burnett, who passed away on May 15, 2024, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 78 after a 5 year battle with ovarian cancer.
Born on September 23, 1945, in Waco, Texas, she was a lifelong resident of Houston since the late 1940’s. She graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1963. She was a devoted mother to her children Stephanie, Yvonne and Jay.
Donna Burnett lived a fulfilling life and loved spending time with her family. She worked at Spring Branch ISD for 33 years and retired in 2020. She was a loving Mother, Aunt, Grandmother (Giggle) and Great-Grandmother. She was the glue to our family and loved having a house full of family. She enjoyed reading books, solving crossword and sudoku puzzles in her free time.
Donna Burnett was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality.
She is survived by her 3 children, Stephanie Smith and husband Paul, Yvonne New and husband Jim, Jay Burnett and wife Kerrey, niece Brianne Perez and husband Miguel, 9 grandchildren, Hayley Burnett, Nikolos Oakes and wife Taylor, Shelby Robinson and husband Christian, Hunter Burnett and wife Alexis, Destinee Ford and fiancé Zack, Nathan Oakes, Emily Smith, Jace Ford, and Aidan Oakes and 8 greatgrandchildren, Eli Martinez, Jett Oakes, Easton Robinson, Maverick Oakes, Walker Robinson, Hazel Oakes, Parker Robinson, Brooks Burnett, great nieces Emma Perez and Grace Perez, numerous relatives and special friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Royce and Norma McMahan, sister Janis McMahan and brother Brian McMahan.
Rest in peace, dear mom and Giggle. You will forever be in our hearts and memories. We will miss you, but your spirit and strength, lives on in all of us and in the lives that you touched by your love, strength, conviction, wisdom, and beauty of your soul. Love you mom – you truly were a very amazing, special person! Thank you for your sacrifices, your care and concern, your love and everything that you have done for all of us.
A memorial service will be held on June 8, 2024, at 2 pm at Stone Creek Funeral Home, 775 S. Dill St. East Bernard, TX 77435.

A memorial service will be held on June 8, 2024 at 2:00pm with a visitation starting at 12:00pm. At Stone Creek Funeral Home, following the memorial service everyone will attend the graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.
